Niki Turner
Silversmith & Jewellery Designer

With a background of ceramic design, and studying for a degree at University for the Creative Arts in Rochester in product design for two years, I specialised in Silversmithing, Goldsmithing and Jewellery design graduating in June 2008 with honours.

My work has received awards by the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council in 2007 and 2008.

I enjoy elements of design that are both simplistic as well as elegant, which to me are the ethos of sophistication. I am drawn to industrial design and architecture in particular that of a zoomorphic representation.

Much of my work is functional as well as ornamental. Working mainly in silver, I incorporate surface contrast and mixed media that I feel will compliment the final design.
